ROBERT EUGENE LAWS

Robert Eugene Laws passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 in Savannah, Georgia after suffering a pulmonary embolism related to an earlier fall in his home.
The son of Roy Edward Laws and Dorothy Groves Laws, Bob was born on December 19, 1926 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Bob served in the Navy during World War II and received both a B.A. and Master’s in Economics from Indiana University. For a short time he taught Economics at Indiana University Extension in Indianapolis.
Bob married Kathleen Campbell on Christmas Eve, 1950. They have two children: Mary Laws Erwin of Houston, Texas and Robert Campbell Laws of Baltimore, Maryland.
After serving as Vice President of the Morris Plan in Indianapolis, Bob and his family moved to Connecticut where he worked for ITT in New York City for 23 years, retiring in 1990 as President and CEO of ITT Financial Corporation. Bob and his loving wife of 56 years, Kathleen, searched for a place to retire where they could fully enjoy their boat. After looking up and down the East Coast, they fell in love with The Landings in Savannah and have lived there for 15 years.
Bob was a member of the Landings Yacht Club, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Beta Theta Pi fraternity and a former member of the Indianapolis Sailing Club and the Riverside Yacht Club in Connecticut.
Survivors include Bob’s wife and two children, 7 grandchildren, Benjamin, Clayton, Nicholas and Maxwell Erwin, Jonathan, Bob and Becca Laws and one new great grandchild, Avery Bennett Erwin.
Bob’s family was his greatest pride and joy.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Savannah, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Salvation Army.

GUEST BOOK

I was saddened to read of Bob,s passing. I had the privilege to work under his supervision at Morris Plan. I attribute any success I may have had to Bob,s tutoring and mentoring. He was very competent and highly respected. A fond remembrance is of many good times we shared at Jazz Limited in Chicago.
